I’ve not posted here since November, I’ve been focused on posting to Bluesky, leaving Twitter, and getting through my final year of teaching. Retirement date is set for the end of May, then it’s all about writing, and fighting to keep democracy alive in the United States full time.
The problem is, I’m not sure there will be much left to save come May. MAGA and Musk have had years to lay plans on how to do what we are watching them do in real time. It’s moving just as fast as those who read and then warned about Project 2025, Musk, and Thiel’s plans have warned you it would move.
The “vast Right-Wing conspiracy” turned out to be real, and it’s really happening. The smartest people I know have been ringing the alarm bell for years and yet, the majority have been pushed and pulled by social media to believe what the Coup leaders want them to believe.
Folks have posted facts, information, walked you through it, talked you through it, created every graphic and meme … and the “majority” still walked right into this with their eyes open and their fists raised.
I’m not sure just how we come back from this. Because Elon Musk, world’s wealthiest Dudebro and usurper of other people’s ideas, has a team of children rewriting the base code to half the federal government in real time as I type this.
They have installed hardware and altered code in half a dozen or more federal agencies like Treasury, and OMB. Lord only knows what they have done, what back doors and kill switches Elon now has. We will never be able to trust any of the infrastructure or systems again in any agency they have touched, and by the time this is over … it will be all of them.
It will cost billions to purge Elon from the system. I’m sure it’s going to be hundreds of billions, but that sounds silly… until you realize it’s all going to have to go… all of it. Every server, every computer, every single storage device, for the entire federal system is now suspect.
People I know are now wondering out loud if they should bother paying their taxes… they are concerned that the systems are not trustworthy, and that they will not get credit… or they think the cash will simply disappear into Elon’s maze of holdings, or Trump’s…
Trump started by undermining American’s trust in elections and the legitimacy of government, now he’s digging at the foundation of the financial stability of the United States. By May, he and Elon will have the ability to simply shut it all down. Imagine the entire federal system just going dark and staying dark until folks give in to whatever these toddlers masquerading as adults want.
MAGA elected Trump to be king, and that’s exactly what we are going to get.
