Random thoughts from a Random Writer
One
He was found guilty on all 34 counts. Trump, the presumptive GOP candidate for President, is now a convicted felon. MAGA world is having a meltdown, threatening civil war (again), promising to weaponize the DOJ (again), promising to hunt liberals down (again), claiming to be pulling their investments from New York (again). My personal favorites are the folks posting lists of persecuted leaders who were convicted felons, you know … like Mandela and Gandhi… They think Trump belongs on that list. TDS is real, but the folks that have it are the ones wearing the cheap red hats imported from China.
Two
MAGA world is enraged, and they will get nasty and mean as we approach the election. Watch your back folks. Don’t assume that because they are stupid, they aren’t dangerous. A dull knife can kill just like a sharp one.
Three
The Wife and I watched a Red-shouldered hawk and its mate hunting over our yard this morning after our morning walk. That same hawk took a chipmunk I was watching last Sunday morning. We have a bunch of bird feeders, a ground feeder for the various critters who live in the yard, and a dedicated chipmunk feeder. The chipmunks have made paths to the tree with the bird feeders and the hawk must have been watching them because it took the little guy mid hop along its path. When It happened, I yelled and The Wife immediately began singing “The Circle of Life.” Today we finally saw the other chipmunks headed back to the feeders and the hawk was once again on the prowl. It’s possible to appreciate both things at the same time, though I feel morbid feeding the chipmunks out in the open.

I applied to Athletic Brewing to become an ambassador. Not hopeful I’ll get it, but it would be fun if it happens. I think there is a huge void of folks advocating for NA beers in the mental health community. I hope to help fill that void.

Becoming a writer while also being a full-time teacher is difficult. I was watching one of Brandon Sanderson’s lectures and he said that one of the hardest jobs to have and try to write is teaching because you don’t leave the job at work. He was 100% correct. This means that I put all my effort into writing during breaks, and that’s a lot of pressure. I’ve got too many irons in the fire with three WIPs and a short story in the works. I have three semesters of full time teaching before I can retire to write full time. I’m so ready.
