Equality, Equity, and Privilege.

Equality is not pie, giving equality to those who don't have it will not make your equality less than it is now.

Incidentally, privilege IS pie. If everyone is equal, then what folks stand to lose is their unearned advantage, their get out of jail free card, the ace up their sleeve.

Sure, you might claim that your skin never helped you, that you've had a tough, uphill battle your entire life.

But what you don't recognize is that your skin has never worked against you either. It's not an obstacle to your climb.
