Controlling Change
Conservatives gotta conserve.
Above all else, conservatives want to conserve. To control change so that it does not affect their power, their privileges, or their property.
Read that sentence again.
Here are a few examples.
They define what is and is not Christianity and insist on doing so with other religions as well. They decode what makes you Christian and what disqualifies you.
They define gender, sexuality, and reproductive rights the same way. If it’s uncomfortable for them, even slightly, it’s wrong. If it’s outside of what they view as “normal,” then it’s wrong. If it erodes their control, it’s wrong.
They define names. There’s an entire thread I saw where the parents of a newborn in India announced the name of their daughter and hundreds of white Americans commented about “real names” and “made up names,” totally ignoring the fact that ALL names are made up … all of them. Not to mention the fact that the parents were from a different culture.
Like everything they define, they reserve the right to redefine as needed. “Normal” is whatever they need it to be in the moment.
Kyle Rittenhouse was normal for carrying a rifle to a protest that wasn’t even in his state. Alex Pretti was a terrorist for his legally licensed firearm in its holster at a protest in his own city.
Rights for women and minorities fall into the same category. White women can vote as long as they vote the way white men want them to. Support the status quo or lose your voice.
Wealth, power, and influence belong in the hands of white men. Everything about their political movement is based on maintaining that position.
They’ve molded their religious beliefs to uphold their prejudices. They have redefined our shared history to do so as well.
Progressive change and the empowerment of non-whites is and will remain the greatest threat to their way of life. Which is why they hate the left. All we want is freedom to live our lives, but that provides their children with choices, and those choices are a threat that must be eliminated.
So, they must control education, health, politics, religious institutions, social media platforms, public airwaves, and anything else that may pollute their children with information that makes them ask questions.
They need their children to follow in their path without fear of contradiction. New ideas, freedom, and choice terrify them.
They maintain control by belligerently ignoring other’s right to choose and imposing their own beliefs and choices on us.
That belligerence is becoming more violent by the day. Almost by the hour. Those of us on the left and in the middle need to come to the understanding that there is no compromise with folks who operate this way. They do not want to coexist. They want to dominate and exterminate until we have all assimilated into their worldview.
